Candle Care & Safety
We really hope you enjoy your new candle as much as we enjoyed creating it! Below are some tips for you on how to get the most out of your new coconut wax candle.
Max burn time is 4 hours. Always keep your candle lit long enough for the wax to melt to the edges of the container, this will prevent any "tunneling" in your candle. Coconut wax has a memory; it will only burn as far across as the last time you used it. This will also get you the most use from your candle, if burnt properly each time coconut wax will last about 30% longer than soy candles.
Coconut wax is a softer wax, so keep your candle out of extreme heat. Some softening of the candle at room temperature is normal and won't affect the candle's performance.
Wood wicks need a tiny bit of maintenance: keep the wick trimmed short at 1/8th of an inch. If the wick is too long you might have trouble with keeping it lit, too high of a flame, or sooting. Before relighting just snap off any burnt wick and it'll be perfect. Also, the crackle sound is normal- enjoy it!
Our candles are scented with only pure essential oils. Essential oils are highly concentrated and care should be taken with their use, especially around children and pets. Wax should never be applied to the skin, and pregnant women or people with epilepsy should avoid certain oils. Candle use is different from diffusing essential oil so risk may be lessened...however consult your doctor if you have questions or concerns about using essential oil. Effuse Candles is not responsible for misuse of essential oil products. Visit our page on essential oil use and safety for more information.
Finally, be sure to always burn candle within sight- never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children and fur-children. Please don't burn your candle on or near anything that could catch fire.
